Destinations: The Royal Saltworks of Arc et Senans

An 18th century royal factory, designed in a semicircle by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, it was an important saltworks for close to a century. Due to its originality and beautiful architecture, the complex is on the UNESCO world heritage list. It has been superbly preserved, with an imposing guards building (only entrance to the structure), the “bernes” cooking workshops, the director’s house and enclosure. The only possible conclusion - this monument is a unique gem and a visit is essential!
