Hadrian’s wall was built two thousand years ago as the boundary of the Roman Empire in the United Kingdom (the colony of “Britannia” at that time.) It is 118 km long and is one of the largest ancient Roman monuments still in existence in the world today.
It is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and its remains can be admired in the counties of Cumbria, Northumbria and Tyne and Wear.
