The Ötzal Valley owes its name to Ötzi, the Ice-Age man over 5000 years old, discovered in 1991; it is famous for its ski runs.

Not far from the resort of Obergurgl, Hochgurgl is the tops as far as Tyrol ski resorts are concerned. Lost in the high mountain pastures, surrounded by over twenty peaks over 3000 metres high, this almost-intimate resort offers luxurious, comfortable structures for skiing under the best possible conditions.
